Cambrone FDS - Calibrate

At the rear of the FDS is the microphone power level knob. We use this to set the input level so a meaningful signal can be seen on FreX's oscilloscope. This is simply to provide a visual 2D image of what FDS's output signal is, and to view the audio spectrum data

Run a frequency of 500Hz. The FDS+ switch panel is ON > SQUARE > AC or DC > RF OFF, Power knob up full (see image below). Then adjust the calibration knob so the signal is displayed in the oscilloscope as such. Here we have 5 volts to each square division. In AC Mode this is called -15 volts to +15 volts, a voltage span of 30 volts. If DC Mode is selected, the display will be the same, but a 0 to 30 Vpp signal will be output.

This gives us a method for determining the output signals strength. At around 8,500Hz, the microphone oscilloscope's band width limitations kick in and the full signal amplitude can't be correctly displayed. However, the display is adequate enough to see the output signals amplitude, and its effect when a load is applied.

8,600Hz - the sampling rate of the microphone will not capture full signal strength, but delivers a good display for monitoring load effects on the signal.

A load can be power transistors for high voltage plasma transmitters, to an object connected via electrodes, such as a Homeopathic preparation and/or parasite zapping.
